Too often we hear people around us arguing about who’s better looking based on the shade of their skin. Some people even come to think that when they are darker in complexion they are invaluable.
When I was younger I heard “Raki you are dark ” for the longest time and honestly I used to get uneasy because of those simple words. Those words changed the way I feel about myself . You know when you lose all confidence in yourself, yeah I went through that at a very young age.
Now I’m older and wiser. I’ve learnt to love the beaut that I AM.
Yes being dark skinned is pretty amazing. We have really gorgeous skin. That melanin really is POPPING 🌌
The one question that always comes to mind with this whole issue is: Are we really that shallow to a point where we define beauty
based on the shade of our complexion? Judging someone by the color of their skin is ignorant. Our skin complexion has nothing to do with our morals, beliefs or intelligence.
I love my big nose, fat lips and the glasses I’m in. I love my short natural hair, textured skin and all the melanin. Shout out to the people put aside; I too, felt less than inside. Now that I’m grown, I’ve gained some pride, these big eyes are now wise and wide.
I’ve never been so proud to be African in my entire life! To see young black people standing up for themselves and for what they believe in. To see us celebrating ourselves and our uniqueness, it brings me the greatest joy ❤
