Today is the one-year blog-anniversary of AfricanSoulGoddess!
They say time flies when you are having fun, and girl they are right!
My little blog has grown into so much more than I ever could imagine. The following is growing amazingly, the feedback tops it off, don’t get me started on the support I’ve been receiving from the blogging community. It really is a warm community to be a part of.
The past year has been a great learning experience for me. With blogging, you learn new things every day, as technology evolves by the minute. I’m still learning. I’m really proud of the growth I’ve made thus far.
I keep getting questions about how and why I started blogging. Today I’m going to spill every little detail with you lovies.
I started blogging because I love writing, I’ve always had a diary or a journal (that’s what it’s called these days) from a tender age of 7. Remember when those diaries with locks were still a thing? I owned a few of those, so you can imagine how long ago that was. I love putting how I feel into words, I express myself best in words and I think that’s how I fell in love with writing.
I have had journals all my life! Those who know me can attest to this. Even today I still own a journal, it is for my own personal escape. It helps me explore my thoughts.
One good day I thought to myself how can I connect to other people outside my reach, just being there for them. It hit me – blogging was the only way. Writing is a bit old school, but will never go out of style. I know I still buy magazines that inspire me, I always find comfort in reading about everyday life, it’s challenges and how to overcome them. I can’t be the only one who gets fascinated by those kinds of articles. They bring a sense of belonging. That is why I started blogging.
I always get told that I’m in the wrong field, Internal Auditing this is only because I give the best advice, I’m super calm and always willing to lend an ear. I should be studying Psychology. Blogging has helped me explore the psychology field. I get to inspire people through my work, build personal connections, I work with those that inspire me and insist on a positive lifestyle. This makes me really happy. ❤️
I remember starting up my blog I didn’t know what to call it. I remember coming up with different names from Life With The Sunflower to Being A Wallflower, but African Soul Goddess stood out the most. It is a collection of words that mean everything to me. African, the need to learn more about my Africanness, my roots and my history. Soul, to explore my being – the reason for my being and its depth. Goddess, I’ve always believed I was from royalty. The Goddess means full of love, naturing, motherly, beauty of the soul. It’s not that deep believe me (lol). I fell in love with the name, it is unique, more of my style.
With Africansoulgoddess being my first baby I plan to make it a household name. How I plan to do so? I’m not sure yet, but I believe I will make it a reality soon. That is my dream.
I plan to inspire more lives and to educate more about the importance of self-care. 🌻
