I thought it would be really cool to create an Autumn /Winter 2020 style guide inspired by the Pantone colours of the season. This way we all know where to start when we go shop for our Autumn clothes.
Disclaimer: This style guide was shot in the comfort of my home. (of course, it was). I’m learning how to take my own pictures using a Bluetooth tripod bought from AliExpress a while ago. Here’s a link on how to navigate your way through Aliexpress and a review of some products I bought: https://africansoulgoddess.co.za/blog/2019/02/02/aliexpress-haul/

It’s funny how this idea came about – day 1/14 of 22/35 of South Africa’s lockdown at 04:15 a.m (I sleep way later than this) I was going through Pinterest for some winter style ideas and I sent @tembani_kofi a WhatsApp text on a crazy idea I had ”Why not create fashion looks for Autumn/Winter, make it fun, make it relatable, make it bold” that is the brief I gave him. I wanted to feature a male fashionista model to accommodate my male readers. Unfortunately, the collaboration didn’t go as planned – his phone broke in preparation for his ”shoot”. This would have been really cool. We have other seasons coming up and I hope by then I would have @thembani_kofi representing men.
We are in level 4 of South Africa’s lockdown and retail stores are open, this gives us an opportunity to shop some Winter clothes. What better way to go shopping with an idea of the colours to look out for. What I love about this season is its rich warm colours. The dark brown, olives, bluestone and my favourite red wine all compliment my skin so well. Let’s not forget the Winter trends down-comforter layers become in vogue, cardigans that look like sleeping bags and coats as staples. The idea of layering up and mixing different kinds of material for a Winter look excites me, currently loving pleather.
