    Update: my quarterly goals 1/4

Happy new month lovies! If you remember well, my first blog post this year was about how I want to change the mindset on annual goals and instead focus on quarterly goals. This way I can easily direct my energy to those that are important. Having quarterly goals allows me to narrow my focus into getting something done. In my Day 1 of 365 post, I noted down four of my quarterly goals: My natural hair journey, job hunting, toning my body and personal branding. I have seen a bit of progress in each goal mentioned above and I’m very happy with the results. Personal Branding Working on the branding for…

    7 day self-care challenge: Day 7 of 7

This is my favourite part of self-care a vision board. It serves as an inspiration to use the law of attraction to attain your goals.   This is a dream board. YOUR dream board. A vision board helps clarify and maintain focus on your goals. It is one of the most powerful tools for using the law of attraction. If you can imagine it, clearly you can achieve it. It is a powerful way to say ‘YES PLEASE’ to the abundance you would like to receive. Imagine putting your goals into a collection of pictures, pictures you would love to see on a day to day basis. I have my…

    7 day self-care challenge: Day 6

Meditation is a practice of mindfulness, focusing your mind on one thing. That’s the ultimate goal, focusing on something that makes you happy.   Regular meditation helps relieving stress and anxiety levels. You become more relaxed, more focused and you sleep a lot better at night. You will live a healthier and happier life.   The kind of serenity you get from meditation is unexplainable.   Meditation changes your brain in ways that can help you to control emotions, enhance concentration, decrease stress and to become more connected to those around you.   With practice you’ll be able to achieve a sense of tranquility.   **This post contains affiliate links…

    7 day self-care challenge: Day 5

A love letter to myself is one of the greatest gifts I can give.   I wrote this letter a few years ago for my future self. This way I made a promise to myself on what I want to achieve and how I’m going to make myself proud one of the good days.   The time I wrote myself the love letter I was going through so many emotions, but I had hope. Hope for a better me, hope for a better situation, hope for a better life.   Loving yourself means spending quality time with yourself. Loving yourself means understanding self-love is not selfishness. Loving yourself is accepting…

    7 day self-care challenge: Day 4

Positive self talk is good for the soul. 😍 Positive affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome negative thoughts. When you repeat them often and believe in them, you start to make positive changes in your life. When practicing affirmations it is important to focus on two or three a day or weekly. This way you get to believe the beautiful words you say to yourself. It is advisable to say the affirmations out loud, with a confident voice several times a day even before you sleep .🌙 One thing about affirmations is that they inspire a beautiful life. A life only you can dream…

    7 Day self-care challenge: Day 1

I have always had the idea of starting a self-care challenge. This way self-care easily becomes a norm. This post was inspired by a quote I recently came across “You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.” The depth of this quote made me realize how important self-care is, a little self-introspection, self-discovery and self-love can do so much for you and your personal growth. 2019 is the year for personal development. The year of SELF, the year of LOVE, internal love. I recently got myself a happiness diary, this diary is for helping me track down all the things that keep me sane, all the…

Book review: Who Moved My Cheese?

This book is about how we react to CHANGE. How a person reacts to certain change and how that will reflect in future. Yes change is scary and it’s not everyone who deals with it well, but it is necessary. It is necessary for both progress and effective growth. The book has roughly 50 pages it is an easy read, you can finish the whole book within an hour. “Cheese” is a metaphor for what you want to have in life-whether its a good job, a loving relationship, money, a possession, health, or spiritual peace of mind. From this book there are four characters: Haw, Sniff, Ham and Scurry. These…

    Black is BEAUTIFUL

Too often we hear people around us arguing about who’s better looking based on the shade of their skin. Some people even come to think that when they are darker in complexion they are invaluable. When I was younger I heard “Raki you are dark ” for the longest time and honestly I used to get uneasy because of those simple words. Those words changed the way I feel about myself . You know when you lose all confidence in yourself, yeah I went through that at a very young age. Now I’m older and wiser. I’ve learnt to love the beaut that I AM. Yes being dark skinned is…

    Self Love

My friend, learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all. You will begin to heal when you let go of past hurts. Forgive those who have wronged you and learn to forgive yourself for your mistakes. The art of being yourself at your worst is the art of unfolding your personality into the person you want to be. Be gentle with yourself, learn to love yourself, to forgive yourself, for only as we have the right attitude toward ourselves can we have the right attitude toward others. People can be more forgiving than you can imagine, but you have to forgive yourself. Let go of what’s bitter and…
